What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a community event in which programmers, developers, graphic designers, entrepreneurs and community members share ideas and skills to develop new software projects over a course of either 24 or 48 hours.
Do I need technical skills to participate?
No! Anyone with an interest in innovating transgender advocacy is welcome to join! We will make sure to place you on a team with enough tech skills to help turn your ideas into reality!
How many people will be participating in Trans*H4CK?
Each event will accommodate a total of 50 participants. Once the official date are released, we recommend that you apply as early as possible to secure your spot at the event!
Who is invited?
Anyone that has an interest in gender and racial justice!
What are the rules?
Once you receive acceptance to the event, you decide on what project you would like to complete. You can come with a team or we will set you up with one at the event. The only rule is that everything must be created entirely at Trans*H4CK.
What age do I have to be to participate in Trans*H4CK?
There are no age restrictions to participate but you will need to be at least 21 for the post-hack party.
Are spectators allowed?
Only accepted applicants are invited to be in the hacking space. Guests are always allowed to be present at the public exhibition panels.
What do I need to bring to Trans*H4CK?
Bring your laptop, ipad, mobile phone or any other tool that will help you complete your hack. Everything else will be provided for you.
Will food and drinks be provided?
Yes! We will provide breakfast, dinner, lunch, snacks and drinks to keep your blood sugar at normal levels!
How will Trans*H4CK be judged?
Although Trans*H4CK is a social justice project concerned with creating products that benefit the trans community, we are offering prizes. All projects will be judged by our guests panel to offer advice and constructive criticism with prizes offered to help ensure projects move beyond the prototype stage. Everyone who participates in Trans*H4CK will receive a free gift!
